Our firm has been retained to find a strong operations leader with experience in a high quality, high output custom engineered to order manufacturing environment to serve as Vice President of Operations for a privately owned manufacturing company headquartered in the Northeast.

Our client is a global leader in the design and manufacture of hot runner systems.  The company has approximately $100M in global revenues.  In the past two years, the company was acquired by one of the largest and most highly respected private equity groups in the country.  Our client has manufacturing locations in the U.S., Europe and China.  The company has remained highly competitive through leveraging global best practices and lean manufacturing continuous improvement activities.

Reporting to the President North America, the successful candidate will lead a team of operations managers in design engineering, assembly and warehouse, purchasing, project engineering, production control, and manufacturing and work closely with the management team where customer focus and financial management are the key drivers.  Key qualifications include:

•  a minimum of 10+ years operations experience leading the application, design, and manufacturing operations of a business unit that manufactures high output, high quality custom engineered, to order solutions with at least $30M in revenue; experience in a multi-national organization is a plus; experience in high-end metals machining processes,including both turning and milling operations. would be ideal;

•  a hands-on approach to manufacturing; must be willing to roll up his/her sleeves and get into the detail of analysis of metrics, processes, and performance, while still being able to keep the “eye on the prize” of the bigger business picture;

•  experience in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement as part of the company’s culture and success; the ability to drive business to improve on all major objectives including on time, quality, and cost; working globally to insure “Best Practices”;

•  a strong understanding of the financial performance and the ability to take appropriate actions to improve the bottom line; ideally, a successful track record of  developing and maintaining budgets for all operations activities while insuring financial measurements and objectives are met, and continually updated;

•  strong communication skills with unquestioned integrity; must have the ability to effectively communicate and advise regarding operational issues to the President of North America, CFO, and Board;

•  technology savvy; proficiency in Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint; knowledge of Solidworks and Mastercam is a plus but not a must;

•  A B.S. Degree in Engineering or Industrial Manufacturing; an MBA is a strong plus.

This is an excellent opportunity with an attractive compensation package, including base salary, bonus, and stock options, that will be tailored to the successful candidate’s requirements.  Candidates living in the Boston metropolitan or southern New England area are ideal.
