Our firm has been retained to find the Vice President of Marketing for North America’s largest manufacturer of equipment used to collect, process, and transport solid, liquid and recycled waste materials.  Our client seeks a strong leader and manager to oversee the marketing operations of this highly profitable private equity backed company. 

Our client offers the most comprehensive product line in its target markets, including a wide variety of steel collection containers, plastic residential containers, hoists, compactors, bailers, tarpers, frac tanks, vehicle-mounted vacuum units, parts and services.  The company manufactures over 200 SKUs used in a number of environments, including factories, residential complexes, retail chains, restaurants, and construction and demolition sites. 

The company services more than 5,000 customers across the U.S. including national, regional and local waster haulers, municipalities, rental companies and big box retail chains.  In addition, our client operates 28 manufacturing facilities and has more than 1,300 employees and revenues in excess of $300MM.  This highly profitable company is backed by one of the world’s leading middle-market private equity investment firms. 

Based in Charlotte, N.C and a key member of the executive team reporting to the CEO, the Vice President of Marketing will lead the company’s marketing organization and inbound and outbound marketing activities company-wide, which include corporate marketing, partner/channel marketing, product marketing, and product management.  He/she will be a strategic and hands-on marketing executive who will drive the company’s efforts to position itself as the industry leader in its existing and emerging markets, and to achieve its revenue goals.  Candidate qualifications include:

•   a minimum of fifteen years of progressively responsible experience within marketing for a growing, multi-location, manufacturing company in a company similar in size, complexity, and work force to our client; at least four years of this experience will have been in a senior management role;

•   technical marketing know-how; knowledge of and first-hand experience in assessing markets and identifying trends; must have solid credentials in competitive analysis, product roadmap development, cost/price strategies and product launch; exceptional track record of developing and implementing marketing and sales strategies that have consistently met or exceeded planned objectives; adept at defining and directing marketing and channel programs for demand creation and lead generation; 

•   solid leadership and managerial skills; a strong organizational leader who has successfully led and motivated a team of product managers where the vision and strategies were translated into action; ability to build a strong culture and results driven, team environment;

•   strategic and creative thinker; experience in forecasting, market segmentation, pricing strategy implementation and analysis; a high comfort level with developing and executing analytically based, data-driven marketing strategies with a focus on driving profitable sales growth; 

•   proven track record of designing and building successful marketing communications programs including branding, public relations, advertising, collateral materials including white papers, trade shows, and website design and content either directly or an outsourced basis;

•   creative with strong product management experience; will have a track record of developing and launching multiple new products and service offerings in diverse sales channels,  including implementing ongoing marketing, pricing strategy, lifecycle management, training and support;

•   strong business acumen; must have experience developing and managing overall marketing budget including developing and tracking metrics and success criteria for all marketing programs and activities; 

•   a highly professional presence and great people skills; must have a personal style that suggests he/she will be effective in dealing with the management, especially working closely with the CEO and Vice President of Sales, and will be able to persuasively present to a board of directors and the corporate leadership team; excellent presentation and communications savvy;

•   infectious enthusiasm, self-confidence and high energy level; low need for personal limelight; a good listener with a sense of humor; and

•   a degree from an accredited four-year college, preferably in marketing, business or a related field; an MBA or Masters Degree would be a plus.
