Our firm has been retained to recruit the General Auditor for an $18.5B financial holding company headquartered in the Southeast.  Our client has two subsidiaries, one of which operates more than 370 branches in North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Tennessee, Maryland, California and Washington.  The second subsidiary offers services in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Missouri, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas and Washington.

Reporting to Audit Committee of the Board, the successful candidate will oversee the company’s Internal Audit division.  His/her team will develop strategies and monitor the bank’s fiscal strength to ensure accurate reporting, maximum financial efficiency and profitability. 

The successful candidate will meet the following qualifications:

•   a minimum of 10 to 12 years’ business experience; a significant portion of this experience will have come in internal auditing; the ideal candidate will have also have public accounting experience;

•   deep financial services knowledge and sound financial skills; candidates will bring a broad general business perspective and diverse experience within the banking industry; ideally, some of that experience will have been with a larger and more complex institution;

•   leadership ability; the bent for taking responsibility, moving ahead and encouraging others to share the vision and “get aboard”; the qualities that inspire trust and confidence; must have the self-confidence, the intellect, and the perseverance which command respect from the Audit Committee and executive leadership team; strength of character;

•   excellent audit skills; will understand how to assess risk in a complex, fluid and regulated environment; must have the creativity and perspective to lead teams in an effort to test and evaluate the bank’s efforts to minimize these risks.
